Once known as the Woolworth Building, 350 Washington Street sits in the heart of Boston’s Downtown Crossing neighborhood. In dire need of redevelopment, Eastern saw an opportunity to reposition a prime urban property in one of Boston’s most travelled corridors.
In 2000, Eastern purchased the property and worked closely with state, city, and local stakeholders to permit and execute the redevelopment. Eastern successfully divested 600,000 square feet of air rights and a parking garage for the development of 33 Arch Street, while retaining and redeveloping 100,000 square feet of prime retail space.
With the opening of Marshall’s, H&M, T.J. Maxx, and Boston Sports Club, Eastern’s redevelopment efforts helped revitalize the underserved Downtown Crossing neighborhood.
