Off market acquisition of a defaulted mortgage.
Set on 135 acres, this former collection of industrial buildings at the junction of Interstate 95 and Route 128 and within walking distance of the Westwood commuter rail station was ideally positioned to create a transit-oriented, mixed-use, and master-planned development.
Eastern purchased a defaulted mortgage, led the project acquisition, and formed a partnership with New England Development and National Development. To date, the partnership has constructed over 600,000+ square feet of retail and restaurants to complement the 350 high-end residential units, more than 350,000 square feet of office space, 100 units of assisted living housing, and a 130-room hotel.
The partnership has strategically sold components of the project over the last 10 years yielding more than $600M in value creation.
